ARTIFICIAL FRAGRANCE
It’s a very sad fact that most products in the US contain a number of harmful ingredients including artificial fragrance. Artificial fragrance has been linked to autoimmune disorders, infertility, are a known allergen and endocrine disruptor.
Exposure to fragrance chemicals can cause headaches; eye, nose, and throat irritation; nausea; forgetfulness; loss of coordination; and other respiratory and/or neurotoxic symptoms. Many fragrance ingredients are respiratory irritants, which can trigger asthma attacks and aggravate sinus conditions.
SUPPLEMENTS
SUPPLEMENTS AND WELLNESS //
Conventional medicine tells us to look for “quick fixes” and rely on medications, but if we aren’t getting to the root cause of the imbalance, we can end up staying in a vicious cycle of feeling unwell.
Ultimately we need to combine a clean nutrient dense diet with the right foundational supplements.
This is such an important thing to understand. There are many people labeled with numerous diagnoses, but often it is actually their body’s way of responding to nutritional deficiencies or inflammation caused by toxins from their environment and diet.
Let’s talk about nutritional deficiencies —
Deficiencies of essential nutrients often occur due to eating a diet of overly processed and chemically filled foods. These processed foods strip our cells of oxygenation and inhibit nutrient absorption. Then on top of that, bioavailable vitamins and minerals from plant sources either in diet and/or supplements are the missing links needed to help get our nutrition (carbs, proteins, fats, etc.) into the cells to help them function properly. It’s all connected. See, most foods that are produced today are stripped of the vital nutrients that it once contained, due to processing and production methods.
Example 1: A cow that is not grazing in free range grass and is pumped with antibiotics and hormones, lacks essential vitamins such a B12 and Vit A…since these are found in the grass and dirt the cow consumes.
Example 2: Pesticides and insecticides on produce can inflame our digestive tract hindering our body’s absorption of key nutrients. Even organic produce contains amounts from overspray.
Example 3: Due to pollution and depletion- water, air, and soil foods do not contain the same nutritional value that they once did.
Example 4: Most produce is picked about two weeks before it is ripe -- did you know that often the most vital phytonutrients are developed during that time of the ripening process?
Let’s talk about inflammation —
Inflammation is our body's natural response to injury or threat. Stress can be a huge trigger that leads to chronic inflammation and over time can tell your immune system to attack healthy tissue and organs in your body. When left untreated, prolonged chronic inflammation can increase your risk for diseases like diabetes, heart disease, cancer and rheumatoid arthritis.
Inflammation can also manifest in our bodies as digestive issues that lead to chronic gut diseases, skin blemishes, hormone disruption, joint pain, etc.
Nutrition and the right kind of diet important are key factors to maintaining long term health and wellness.
Why does the QUALITY of your supplements matter?
Today you can walk into Walmart and see aisles lined with supplements. There are options everywhere you look. Ads being endorsed by celebrities without the quality education to back up why and which to choose.
Did you know Supplements aren't regulated by the FDA?
Let's take a look at what they have to say:
"Federal law does not require dietary supplements to be proven safe to FDA's satisfaction before they are marketed."
"For most claims made in the labeling of dietary supplements, the law does not require the manufacturer or seller to prove the FDA's satisfaction that the claim is accurate or truthful before it appears on the product."
"Dietary supplement manufacturers do not have to get the FDA's approval before producing or selling these products."
Another thing to keep in mind, is that most OTC supplements are synthetically made and our bodies don’t absorb them properly because they are missing key nutrients that balance and help absorption and cell function that whole plant sources contain. These synthetics ultimately inhibit cellular function therefore doing more harm than good and lead to toxic overload.
So make sure to do your research and know your source and where the supplements are derived from. The details of the processing matter.
